Jameos del Agua is an iconic place on our planet where nature and man found a way to embrace each other. It was César Manrique who imagined a way to envisage and transform what was a collapsed volcanic tube through which lava from the Corona volcano in the north of the island had flowed into a space like no other in the world.
It was his privileged mind and his hands so full of life that shaped the rough black basalt to give form to a place in which harmony, beauty, peace and tranquillity reign. White, blue, green and black are the colours that Manrique gifted to his island, and they blend throughout a route that is of unique and extraordinary beauty, one that guides visitors to dream and imagine.
From each and every nook and corner, from the cool access bathed in the green light filtering through enormous ferns that are home to tiny songbirds, to the distinctive Auditorium, the only one of its kind due to its geological characteristics and unique acoustic conditions, every detail of Jameos del Agua is a continuous invitation to introspection, reflection and daydreaming.
