Formed by the eruption of the Volcán de la Corona, this is is one of the most surprising wonders hidden in the depths of Lanzarote.
During the 1960s, Lanzarote’s regional government invited the artist Jesús Soto, born in neighbouring Fuerteventura, to work on this natural volcanic sanctuary. He collaborated closely with César Manrique to turn this space into a centre of attraction for the thousands of visitors who long to discover its secrets.
Soto organised the route of the visit and employed all his knowledge of the treatment of light and shadow to extract the luminosity of the stone and highlight the capricious shapes that the lava had left behind on its devastating journey.
